As 6G development progresses into a more concrete phase of regulation and standardization we are looking for researchers that would like to join us.

At Ericsson Research in Luleå, the research area Networks drives innovations towards 6G, and the 6G Network Platform and we have the mission to develop and drive outstanding procedures, protocols and architecture solutions for current and future wireless systems. The position domain is within Radio Access Network (RAN) protocols, system simulations and AI and the development of related capabilities. This includes RAN system simulator development.

What you will do:

• Define and evaluate end-to-end (E2E) concepts and solutions for future radio access technologies, networks and standards, such as 3GPP 6G. 


• Use and develop simulation tools for evaluating new concepts and solutions. 


• Support new simulator needs, such as intents management, AI models, evolved RRM and PHY models, with extended functionality. 


• Create Intellectual Property Rights. 


• Be part of the continuous development and improvement of existing standards and proprietary solutions. 


• Work in an international team of world-class researchers with different backgrounds and experiences, including some of the key authorities and technology leaders in mobile communication.


• Cooperate with internal and external partners.



The skills you bring:

• MSc or PhD within electrical engineering, wireless communications, automatic control, engineering physics, computer science or related fields.

We are now looking for a MLOps research engineer to develop and support our workflows.

In this role, you will
Contribute to the direction and implementation of ML-based ways of working
Study, design and develop workflows and solutions for AI based R&D
Work across internal compute and external cloud platforms

Qualifications
MSc in Data Science or related field, or have equivalent practical experience
Technical skills and/or professional experience, particularly in:
Programming in various languages (Python, Go, etc)
MLOps technologies and tooling (e.g. MLFlow, Kubeflow)
Dispatching and computational Python packages (Hydra, numpy, TensorFlow, etc.)
DevOps and CI/CD experience, runner deployment & management, pipeline creation, testing etc. for validating ML-driven code
Familiarity in the following is a plus:
ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Jax)
Containers technologies (engines, orchestration tools and frameworks such as Docker, Kaniko, Kubernetes, Helm, etc.)

We are looking for a driving, knowledgeable and creative researcher to strengthen our efforts in concept development and standardization of 6G and 5G systems. In our unit at Ericsson Research, Research Area Networks, we have the mission to develop and drive outstanding procedures, protocols and architecture solutions for current and future wireless systems.
As a researcher in 6G/5G standardization, you will be working in an international team of world-class researchers with different backgrounds and experiences and including some of the key authorities and leaders with vision world-wide on mobile communication. The work comprises international standardization in e.g., 3GPP, either as a delegate attending the standardization meetings, or as part of the back-office preparing the material. You will write contributions to the standards and protect your ideas in patents. You will invent new concepts and solutions for 6G radio networks and may also be involved in evaluating their performance using state-of-the-art test beds or radio network system simulators.

In this role, you will

•    Lead the direction and trajectory of cloud-native ways of working at Ericsson Research and drive adoption
•    Research, design and develop workflows and solutions for AI based R&D
•    Develop and support pipelines, testing, and distributed infrastructure to enable HW-accelerated work
•    Drive work on solutions for efficient use of internal and external cloud compute platforms
•    Provide technical insights on investments in future compute decisions.

Qualifications

Our Exciting Opportunity
At Ericsson Research we invent the future. Our research teams develop and master state-of-the-art concepts that shape today’s and tomorrow’s mobile radio communication systems.


We are now looking for an industrial Ph.D. student within connectivity and positioning for aerial robots (UAVs), to learn state-of-the-art, advance research, and build technology competence, to ensure technology leadership, and to spread knowledge publicly and for profitable Ericsson business. This position is one out of 15 Early-Stage Researcher (ESR) positions offered within the Marie Sk?odowska-Curie Innovative Training Network AERO-TRAIN.


The student will be enrolled with the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (RAI) group (www.ltu.se/robotics) at Luleå University of Technology (LTU). The RAI team is conducting fundamental research in all the aspects of robotics with a specific focus on aerial, space and bio-inspired robotics. Team vision includes closing the gap from theory to real life, with strong expertise in field robotics. Specific application areas of focus are robotics for mines, aerial inspection of aging infrastructure, multi-robotic search and rescue, multisensorial fusion and multi robot coordination, including multi robot perception, decentralization and mission execution. The RAI group has a strong European participation in multiple R&D&I projects, while RAI is also participating in the DARPA SUB-T challenge with the CoSTAR Team led by NASA/JPL and has an R&D research agenda with HONDA Research Institute in Japan.
At Ericsson Radio Research we perform research on advanced radio access networks systems, physical layer as well as multi-antenna concepts and algorithms. Our research is targeting standardization, invention of proprietary solutions and pushing the frontiers in future wireless communication theory. You will have the opportunity get an insight into our 5G and 6G research on physical layer and system aspects for communication concepts targeting mobile broadband, cellular IoT, Industry 4.0 MTC and new connectivity scenarios. The AERO-TRAIN project is carried out by a consortium of 14 academic and industrial organizations from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Spain, Italy and Switzerland. AERO-TRAIN aims to close the gap between the Infrastructure Operations & Maintenance industry and aerial robotics, with the ambition to keep our invaluable assets operational and safe.


You will
• Perform research at LTU jointly supervised by Ericsson, resulting in academic publications leading up to a Ph.D. dissertation
• Contribute in Ericsson internal research studies
• Create new technical concepts and solutions
• Build competence through interactions within LTU and Ericsson and in the AERO-TRAIN partner network
• Disseminate results as guidelines, conference publications, journal articles, workshop presentations, etc.


To be successful in the role you must have
• Education: M.Sc. degree in Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar
• Strong analytical skills and capacity to acquire new knowledge and apply it in the job
• High motivation, ambition and enthusiasm about research to connect and locate aerial robots
• Great communication skills in written and spoken English, and ability to work in teams and maintain a personal contact network
• Ability to formulate problems and creativity in driving solutions to tackle them
• Previous experience in the following areas is further qualifying: wireless mobile communication, signal processing, algorithms, positioning, Monte-Carlo simulations


Eligibility criteria
• Applicants can be of any nationality. However, applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Sweden for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the appointment. Short stays, such as holidays, are not taken into account
• Applicants must have a university degree that qualifies for Ph.D. studies
• Applicants must not have been awarded a doctoral degree
