Job Description
About the Role
As a Technology Manager, you will act as a project leader and technology expert during planning and execution phases of client investment projects. You’ll also contribute to sales, solution development, and innovation within our service offering.
Your work will span:
Driving strategic development projects focused on green steel production, fossil-free iron ore processing, and electrification of mining operations
Leading initiatives in hydrogen-based reduction processes (DRI) and advanced metal recycling for circular flows
Managing complex process and project teams
Supporting business development, sales, and marketing
Building strong, long-term relationships with clients and partners

Location: Flexible within Sweden (Luleå or Stockholm preferred, but other locations possible)

Work Mode: Hybrid – combine remote work with office presence

Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
10+ years of experience in mining, metals, or process industry projects as Technology Manager, Senior Process Expert, or similar
Expertise in metallurgical processes, electrification, and hydrogen solutions
Solid understanding of global trends in fossil-free metal production
Academic background in metallurgy, chemical engineering, or related fields
Strong communication skills in English (Swedish and German are a plus)
Ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery

In the position as Technical Project Manager for Automation (Cold Mill Complex) – Level 2 automation you will be participate and take responsibility of engineering and execution tasks of Cold Mill Complex Level 2 automation together with OEM supplier. In addition you will take responsibility of engineering and execution tasks of Level 2 systems integrations, major task will be Level 2 systems and Manufacturing Execution System (MES L3) integrations. Other tasks will include OEM supply technical/functional engineering, mathematical models coordination, digitalization, cyber security and data management. You will work as a member of project management team and report to Section Project Manager Automation.

Technical Quality Assurance: Plan and coordinate work for technical quality assurance towards vendors and suppliers, from procurement to final testing and commissioning, ensuring compliance with regulations, standards, and SSAB specifications.
Financial Oversight: Prepare cost estimates for your area of responsibility and assist in financial follow-up and forecasting throughout all project phases.



About You
Specific experience and skill required:
Proven experience in designing and implementing Level 2 automation systems (process optimization) and system integrations for large industrial projects, particularly in cold mill complexes and their equipment.

Main responsibilities
Project Management: Lead the implementation of assigned automation systems, ensuring timely, budget-conscious, and scope-compliant delivery.
Procurement Activities: Conduct procurement activities in collaboration with the Section Project Manager and the Transformation Office procurement team.
Technical Quality Assurance: Plan and coordinate work for technical quality assurance towards vendors and suppliers, from procurement to final testing and commissioning, ensuring compliance with regulations, standards, and SSAB specifications.
Financial Oversight: Prepare cost estimates for your area of responsibility and assist in financial follow-up and forecasting throughout all project phases.



About You
Specific Experience and Skills Required:
Proven experience in designing and implementing Level 1 automation systems for large industrial projects, particularly in cold mill complexes and their equipment.

With an investment of €4.5 billion approved by our Board of Directors, Luleå is set to become our next site for fossil-free steel production. The new Luleå mill will boast a capacity of 2.5 million tons per year, featuring state-of-the-art facilities including electric arc furnaces, advanced secondary metallurgy, a direct strip rolling mill, and a cold rolling complex. This transformation will support the mobility segment with premium products, driving our mission towards a sustainable future.

Main responsibilities
Project Management: Lead the implementation of assigned automation systems, ensuring timely, budget-conscious, and scope-compliant delivery.
Procurement Activities: Conduct procurement activities in collaboration with the Section Project Manager and the Transformation Office procurement team.
Technical Quality Assurance: Plan and coordinate work for technical quality assurance towards vendors and suppliers, from procurement to final testing and commissioning, ensuring compliance with regulations, standards, and SSAB specifications.
Financial Oversight: Prepare cost estimates for your area of responsibility and assist in financial follow-up and forecasting throughout all project phases.



About You
Specific Experience and Skills Required:
Demonstrated experience in managing complex operations within cold mill complexes or hot strip mills, particularly in one or more of the following areas: CGL and CAL activities, coil pack, recoil, maintenance, Pickling Line & Tandem Cold Mill, rollshop, ROT, conveyor systems, and electric arc furnaces.
